The premise of this blog is to provide info that has been compiled from a select group of people, containing the top foods in a certain category; from county to county, state to state and maybe all over the world. I (the creator of this blog) have sent an exclusive email blast providing my favorite 4 foods in a certain category, in no particular order and the 5th spot was left open for this special group of people to contribute. They all let me know what else should be in the top 5. So, in essence, it is the Top 4 foods and I have received their pick for #5. I hope to be able to compile a rather large list of the top foods in a certain category.
This is not meant as competition to Zagat’s or City Search; yet as a fun, conversation piece. The categories may range from the top ribs, top bagels, top salsas, top sesame chickens, ranches, bacons, breads, meatballs, etc. I’m done with Einstein Bros Bagels being in the Top 5 (in Miami, they really are). I want the good ol’ down and dirty neighborhood spot that may be well known, but there is a real reason for it being well known.
Please keep in mind that you may never have heard of ANY of these places but that is ok. We all know a simple piece of heaven may be just a bite away.
Some things people have taken into consideration…
Would they travel more than 25 minutes for this food?
That means, if they were really hungry, would they take a subway 25 minutes, or drive a car 25 minutes OR walk 25 minutes for it.
If the establishment opened up a 2nd, 3rd or 4th location, would the person be happy?
Maybe, but would it dilute how special the food is? Would it not give focus to the quality of the product? Would you have rather traveled the 25 or more minutes to eat it and have something to look forward to…?
If you wish to contribute to this running list, please email thetop5foods@gmail.com with the subject ‘Let me in’. I will read your plea and most likely add you to the distribution list.
You should like food.
You should eat food.
You should talk about food.
You should like to hear about food.
Happy eating!
